ABOUT US
Meet The Founder
My love for trees and woodworking runs deep. As a child, I enjoyed exploring the woods, marveling at their majestic beauty. I’ve always been a DIY enthusiast—building decks, additions, and furniture with my dad as a teenager sparked my passion for carpentry.

After retiring from a career as a software engineer many years ago, I rediscovered my love for woodworking. I built a small shop in my garage, began recovering lumber from local renovation projects, and creating small wood items. Encouraged by family and friends, I decided to turn this passion into a business—sharing my craftsmanship and story with others.

Our journey started many years ago when I was restoring decks. I noticed that cedar boards often had only minor damage—just a little rot at the ends—and thought it was a shame to throw away such beautiful wood. I began experimenting with small projects in my garage, turning discarded lumber into unique items.

Things took a special turn when a historic 100-year-old home on Rath Avenue was renovated nearby. The workers piled up the old wood, labeling it ‘Free’. At first, the boards seemed like junk, but I saw hidden potential—a treasure trove of old-growth pine and cedar that had supported generations of a home. I salvaged what I could and started making furniture from these reclaimed pieces. That experience ignited my passion for woodworking and inspired me to find more opportunities to repurpose discarded materials.
